Porsche 911 Dakar Owners Club: Approximately 1/4 of owners worldwide are members

911 Dakar Owners Club

Did you know there is a Porsche 911 Dakar Owners Club?

This is a story from overseas, but I had no idea that such clubs existed until now.

The 911 Dakar was a limited edition car with only 2,500 units sold worldwide, and of those who were able to purchase this limited edition car, approximately 600 people have joined the Dakar Owners Club.

Isn't that pretty amazing? 600 out of 2,500 cars around the world are participating.

It may be difficult to participate in events where we ride together, but I think it is possible to become a member from Japan, so why not register if you are an owner in Japan?

I'm not sure what you'll get for becoming a member (it seems like it would be quite difficult to participate in driving events in Europe etc.), but if you're a Dakar owner, it seems like it would be fun to connect with other Dakar owners from all over the world.

Niels Schoenmakers, co-founder of the club, said, "I am one of the two founders of this club. My colleague Hans and I founded this club after receiving the 992 Dakar in December 2023."

"It's not just about driving ability, it's about connecting owners, making people smile, going on new adventures and most importantly having fun," says Niels.

He also said of the Dakar, "I've owned Porsches before, but this one was on another level."

Yes, to enjoy the Dakar Rally, you can't see its true beauty just by driving around Tokyo in Japan! (I'm saying this in a big way even though I don't have one (lol)).

But actually, when you see the events held by the Dakar Club, you think, "Oh, it looks like fun to play (run) in Dakar!" and you can't help but feel that this is what makes Dakar so attractive!

This is it. Here is the event at the Dakar Owners Club:

This footage is from a recent event in Belgium and the Netherlands, and it's clear that everyone is having a great time in Dakar.

Although some of the Dakar participants have added cosmetic features such as stickers or roof racks, the vehicles themselves are all genuine 100% vehicles.

Additionally, the group included two people who had participated in the Paris-Dakar Rally and one who had participated in the Morocco Desert Challenge, so it seems that some driving skills were required to drive the car.

The club aims to hold four main events per year, plus several local meetups in various locations.

The next event will see them heading to Wales for some of the best roads in the UK, stopping off at Tuthill Porsche before doing some more time on the Silverstone Circuit.

Of course, the club members understand the value of having a limited edition Porsche 911, but the majority of them say they bought it just to have fun, and aren't interested in keeping the car in like-new condition to maintain its value (i.e. driving it hard!), and yeah, that's great!

Of course, there are probably some people who want to keep it safe, and everyone has their own way of thinking about this.

But for the Dakar that was born as the Dakar, when I see the owner and the car running together like this and saying "It's fun!!" I think "Good for you, Dakar!"

There is only one requirement to join the club: you must be a Dakar owner.

If you meet the requirements, why not consider joining? → Dakar Owners Club
