Porsche's V8 engine is the 45th anniversary this year
The first Porsche 8-cylinder engine (V8) was the Porsche 928, which was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show (1977) 45 years ago.
Since then, Porsche's V8 engine has been installed in the 918 Spyder and Panamera and Cayenne for multiple generations.
This time, I took a look at the V8 special feature to celebrate the 45th anniversary of this Porsche 8-cylinder engine.

Porsche V8: Past (Porsche 928)
The aforementioned Porsche 928 won the European Car of the Year award after being world premiered at the Geneva Motor Show in 1977.
It is said that the Porsche 928 is the only sports car that won this title later and earlier, and it seems that 61,000 Porsche 928s were finally sold all over the world.
Porsche V8: RS Spider → 918 Spyder
The RS Spyder regularly participated in the American Le Mans Racing Series from 2006 to 2008 and won the 2008 12 Hours of Sebring.
The 3.4-liter 90-degree V8 engine for such Porsche RS Spyder was designed by Porsche engineers from scratch.
It is said that this RS Spyder led to the 918 Spyder, and this "high-speed naturally aspirated V8 engine and hybrid technology" opened up a new era of performance hybrid as the 918 Spyder.
This technology is still being introduced in the Cayenne and Panamera hybrid model, further improving the Pado performance efficiency of the V8 engine along with the battery electric motor.
