Taycan Turbo GT and Taycan Turbo GT Weissach Package released

A while ago, Porsche announced that ``The amazing Taycan will be announced on March 11, 2024'', and as predicted, the ``Taycan Turbo GT'' was announced.

The major features of Taycan Turbo GT are as follows:

• There is also a model with Weissach package, in which case 0-100km/h takes 2.2 seconds and top speed is 305km/h.
• Attack mode adds 120kW power boost
• Maximum output with launch control is 815kW (1,108PS)
• Up to 75kg lighter than Taycan Turbo S
• Available in 2-seater or 4-seater versions, Porsche Active Ride suspension is standard equipment.

Already set lap time records at Laguna Seca and Nürburgring

• With this announcement, the following new models have been added to Porsche's all-electric Taycan model lineup:
  • Taycan Turbo GT
  • Taycan Turbo GT Weissach Package (This is a circuit-specific model, and there is no rear seat to further increase the power-to-weight ratio)
• Both models generate a maximum output of over 1,100PS
• Combining various lightweight design and aerodynamic measures, these fully electric GT sports cars raise the bar in driving dynamics even further.
• The rear axle uses a more powerful and efficient pulse inverter that uses silicon carbide as a semiconductor material.
• Deliveries of the Taycan Turbo GT model are scheduled to begin in the spring of 2024 (*Announcement at AG, not in Japan)

• Although the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach package model has not yet been released, it has already won the title of fastest mass-produced electric car at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in California, USA on February 23, 2024.
• Porsche development driver Lars Kern set a lap time of 1:27.87, the fastest lap time of any driver using a street-legal electric car.

• A prototype version of the same model has already set a new class record at the Nürburgring.
  • The driver was also Lars Kahn, who recorded a lap time of 7:07.55 on the Nordschleife.
  • This time is 26 seconds faster than the lap time set by Kahn in August 2022 in a Taycan Turbo S sports sedan with the performance package.
  • This time is the top of any electric car currently on the market, making the Taycan Turbo GT the fastest four-door car at the Nurburgring of all powertrain types.

• Records at Laguna Seca and the Nürburgring show what great track potential the Taycan has.
  • A comprehensive package of acceleration and braking, cornering grip, aerodynamics, stability and fine-tuning must be right, and with the Weissach package Porsche engineers have achieved this in a masterful way.

  • Tires work very well and stay well balanced in all driving conditions
  • Driving this car around Laguna Seca's undulating course is a lot of fun.

• Attack mode provides an additional power boost of up to 120kW for 10 seconds with the push of a button (*Available with Sport Chrono Package and Performance Battery Plus)
• Attack mode is based on the push-to-pass function of other Taycan models
• The system is optimized for track use and has similar functionality to the 99X racing cars used by Porsche in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
• While boosting, a countdown timer is displayed on the meter panel, and the speedometer animation ring is dynamically produced (*This function can only be used when the speed is 5km/h or higher, the battery temperature is 10°C or higher, and the SoC is 30% or higher. )

• Attack mode provides 50kW more boost power than the push-to-pass feature found on other Taycan models
• How to operate and use it: Instead of pressing the mode switch right next to the steering wheel boss, you can also turn it on and off with the right paddle.
• This makes it easy to use on the circuit
  • You can apply boost without taking your hands off the steering wheel while wearing racing gloves.
  • With this simple, safe and quick operating method, the Taycan Turbo GT model is tailored to the needs of racing drivers.
  • A paddle on the left side of the steering wheel allows you to set the regeneration level to suit driving conditions.

New power electronics in the powertrain

• Porsche recently significantly upgraded the Taycan model line (=New Taycan) and improved the car's overall system output.
• The enhanced powertrain, especially with a new rear axle motor, enables even more dynamic performance than its predecessor.
• Taycan Turbo GT and its Weissach package are new sports flagship models that take Taycan's performance to the next level.
• Equipped with a more powerful pulse inverter, both models generate 580kW
• Overboost power reaches up to 760kW when using launch control, and up to 815kW in 2 seconds according to the maximum power measurement method
• Taycan Turbo GT's 0-100km/h time is 2.3 seconds and 0-200km/h time is 6.6 seconds.
• Taycan Turbo GT Weissach Package 0-100km/h in 2.2 seconds, 0-200km/h in 6.4 seconds

• The pulse inverter is an important component for controlling the electric motor, and both Taycan Turbo GT models use a pulse inverter with a maximum current of 900A on the rear axle.
• These provide more power and torque than the Taycan Turbo S's 600A pulse inverter.
• Silicon carbide is also used as a semiconductor material in the pulse inverter to increase efficiency, which significantly reduces PWR switching losses and allows higher switching frequencies.
• The transmission ratio and gearbox robustness have also been improved, allowing for even higher torque values.
• Both versions have a maximum torque of 1,340Nm, and the Taycan Turbo GT model has a cruising range of up to 555km (WLTP).

Carbon equipment and Porsche Active Ride: lightweight design and chassis

• Intelligent lightweight design saves Taycan Turbo GT by up to 75kg compared to Taycan Turbo S
• Numerous carbon parts contribute to this weight reduction:
  • B pillar trim
  • Upper shell of door mirror
  • Side skirt inlay etc.
• A full bucket seat made of CFRP, a lightweight luggage compartment, and the removal of the tailgate's electric soft-close function also contribute to weight reduction.

• The Taycan Turbo GT comes standard with the Dynamics Package, which also includes Porsche Active Ride suspension with GT-specific tuning.
• Under dynamic driving conditions, this suspension distributes the wheel load in a well-balanced manner and provides near-perfect connection with the road surface.
• Package includes special performance summer tires and 21-inch lightweight forged wheels
• Turbo GT-specific wheels feature relief pockets on the spokes to reduce weight and promote effective ventilation of the brakes.
• The standard lightweight ceramic brakes are a system based on Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) and are optimized from a weight perspective.
• Design changes to the brake disc chamber and brake caliper housing have resulted in a weight reduction of over 2kg.
• This has a positive effect on both driving dynamics and performance, increasing performance by reducing unsprung and rotating masses.
• The brake calipers are painted with a special Victory Gold.

Rear spoiler with flap and special paint finish: aerodynamics and exterior design

• Developed a front spoiler with aero blades exclusively for Taycan Turbo GT
• The rear view is distinguished by an adaptive spoiler, with a tear-off edge featuring a gurney flap with a high-gloss carbon weave finish.
• Matrix LED headlights are standard equipment
• Taycan Turbo GT can be upgraded to HD Matrix LED headlights as an option (at no additional charge)
• Numerous carbon fiber components in the side profile, side window trim painted in high-gloss black
• Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S, which use Turbo Night, are differentiated from other models in the series, and Taycan Turbo GT has a racing atmosphere.

Turbo GT Weissach Package: Designed for track performance

• The positioning of the Taycan Turbo GT Weissach package has been further refined.
• With even more aerodynamics and lightweight design, this model is designed with even more performance in mind.
• The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds, which is 0.1 seconds faster than the Taycan Turbo GT.
• Maximum speed is 305km/h (Turbo GT: 290km/h)
• Aerodynamic equipment includes an underbody air deflector element and a new front diffuser.
• The rear body of vehicles equipped with the Weissach package has a fixed rear wing with a carbon weave finish and a fixed wing support.
• Total downforce up to 220kg
• Weissach Package logo on both sides of the rear wing

• Volt blue, black and matte black striped wraps also available on request
• These further emphasize that the Weissach package specification car is a model specialized for motorsports.
• Striped design can also be combined with black decal set
• By removing all equipment not necessary for circuit driving, we achieved a weight reduction of approximately 70 kg compared to the Taycan Turbo GT that is not equipped with the Weissach package.
• At the rear of the driver and passenger seat shells, TaylorMade high-quality lightweight carbon cladding with storage compartment replaces the usual rear seat system.
