Porsche Ice Experience celebrates 15 years in Canada

Posted: Posted:

We enjoyed driving on ice in 2026 as well.

First of all, on a personal note, since my first ice driving experience (driving on a frozen lake) in 2023, I have been fortunate enough to participate in ice driving every year since then, and this year was my family's fourth time driving on ice, and we had a lot of fun ^^

My husband and I participated in the ice driving event together, using a BMW M3 fitted with studless tires.

As always, when I drive on ice for the first time in a year I'm usually pretty nervous at first and think, "Wow, there's no way I can make the car slide! I'll just have to drive slowly and be careful not to slide," so I start off by just "driving safely on the ice normally," but as I gradually get used to the ice I'm finally able to start to make the car slide, and from there I can start to enjoy drifting at incredibly slow speeds that are only possible on ice.

There are people on the ice that I rarely meet anywhere else, so meeting them once a year is one of the things I enjoy most besides the drive experience.

Well, that was a long introduction, but this time I'd like to talk about the Porsche Ice Experience, an opportunity for participants to hone their driving skills in the latest Porsche models in a safe and beautiful environment.

Porsche Ice Experience Canada, one of the ice experience programs offered by Porsche, will celebrate its 15th anniversary this February.

This is a dedicated snow and ice driving facility located in the suburbs of Montreal, Canada.MécaglisseThis program allows participants to learn winter driving skills in Porsche's latest sports cars.

The multi-corner course is equipped with a winter skid pad, allowing participants to experience the driving dynamics of each Porsche model in safe and controlled conditions.

Of course, the driving lessons at Porsche Ice Experience Canada are taught by Porsche-certified instructors.

The ice experience levels available are:

  • Ice Trial
  • Ice Intro
  • Ice Experience
  • Ice Force
  • Ice Force+ (Plus)

There are several types available to suit the needs of participants.

There is also a program developed specifically for women called "Ice for HER," which began in 2025 and is taught by female instructors.

This time, the Canadian Ice Experience was celebrating its 15th anniversary, so the Canadian program was featured, but Porsche first started this ice program in Finland.

In Finland, the event will be held at the Porsche Arctic Center, a specially constructed venue on a frozen lake north of the Arctic Circle, which will offer an enhanced ice experience and ice force events.

An ice experience is also being offered in Mongolia, which is specifically targeted at Chinese participants.

Other smaller winter activities are also held in Italy, Switzerland and Australia.

Driving on snow and ice is not something that can be done safely by an individual, so I am truly grateful that Porsche has created these programs, including the one I am participating in.

Driving on ice is a great learning experience and a lot of fun... but it's not just fun; what I learn on the ice and what I experience with my body will give me the ability to quickly control my car in a way that will prevent an accident if something happens someday (on an icy or non-icy road), so I think it's been a really good experience.
