Future plans for the Cayenne: Update of the third-generation ICE vehicle and fourth-generation full EV
Spy shots of the Porsche Cayenne have been released in both electric and gasoline versions, so I'd like to provide a brief summary of the Cayenne.
There are various things written on various sites, and in the end it was difficult to understand what will happen to the Cayenne in the future, so for myself, here is a simple summary of the information as of today ^^
Next Cayenne → 4th generation
- This will be a fully electric vehicle. The fourth generation will be electric only.
- The platform uses the VW Group's "PPE (Premium Platform Electric)" architecture.
- This is also shared with the EV Macan, Audi's Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron.
- There are rumors of delays, but is it scheduled for release at the end of 2025 or early 2026?
Below are some spy shots of the 4th generation EV Cayenne being tested:
Current Cayenne → 3rd generation
- This is the current gasoline Cayenne generation, but a further updated version is scheduled to be announced (facelift version).
- It is still planned to be sold in parallel with the fourth-generation EV Cayenne.
- Plug-in hybrid version also available
- There are rumors of delays, but is it scheduled to be announced in early 2026?
Below are some spy shots of the third-generation Cayenne undergoing testing. The front has vertical fins similar to those of the 992.2 T-Hybrid 911 GTS!
Codenamed "K1", a 3-row SUV
- A three-row, fully electric SUV that will be larger than the Cayenne currently under development
- Originally planned to be a fully electric vehicle, the plan is now being revised to accommodate internal combustion engine powertrains as well.
- It is scheduled for release in 2027, but that could be delayed by a few years.
For the time being, it appears that preparations are underway for the "3rd generation (ICE)" and "4th generation (EV)" of the Cayenne, but both appear to be slightly behind schedule.
