Porsche 911 Carrera GTS wins 2025 World Performance Car Award

Porsche's 8th World Performance Car award

The World Car Awards, an international award ceremony made up of automotive journalists from around the world, were announced at the New York International Auto Show, and the Porsche 911 GTS won the World Performance Car award.

This is the eighth time that Porsche has won this award, more than any other brand.

This time, a panel of 96 renowned international automotive journalists from 30 countries evaluated each vehicle and selected the top three finalists from the world (determined by secret ballot).

There were 17 entries in the performance car category, and the winner was the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS.

What is the new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS?

The 911 Carrera and Targa GTS models are equipped with a newly developed lightweight hybrid powertrain (T-Hybrid) that was introduced as part of the major overhaul of the 911 series last year.

The T-Hybrid delivers a maximum output of 532 horsepower (hp), powered by two electric motors powered by a compact 1.9 kWh lithium-ion battery:

• The first motor is installed between the 3.6L engine and the transmission.
• The other is built into the single turbocharger.

The T-Hybrid does not require a clutch (separator clutch) for running on electricity alone, making the entire system extremely light. As a result, the weight of the new GTS is only about 50 kg heavier than the previous model.

The fact that the new Porsche 911 equipped with the new T-Hybrid was selected for this prestigious award may be more pleasing for Porsche than any other award it has received so far.
