Porsche 718 Spyder RS announced: 911 GT3 with NA engine

The most powerful version of Porsche's mid-engined roadster

718 Spider RS was announced by Porsche too abruptly and sales started. Surprise, surprise.

The 718, which is equipped with the NA engine of the Porsche 911 GT3, looks amazing.

For the time being, I would like to see the details that have been announced.

718 Spyder RS is an open car model of 718 Cayman GT4 RS

• The 718 Spider RS is a sports car designed for maximum driving pleasure in the model line of the 718 midship engine.
• The 718 Spider RS is an open car model of the 718 Cayman GT4 RS

• The 500 horsepower (PS) engine is the same as the Porsche 911 GT3 and GT3 Cup, and is a naturally aspirated horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine.
• A very light, removable manual soft-top enhances the very exciting engine sound.

• Its appeal is further enhanced by the standard lightweight stainless steel sports exhaust and distinctive process air inlets on either side behind the headrests.

High-speed NA engine and overwhelming lightweight structure

• The powertrain is the same as the 718 Cayman GT4RS
• 4-liter 6-cylinder boxer engine, maximum 9,000 rpm, maximum output 368 kW/500 horsepower (PS), maximum torque 450 Nm
• As with all RS models, the transmission is PDK only for maximum performance, close ratio 7-speed PDK

• 0-100km in 3.4 seconds, 0-200km in 10.9 seconds
• Not only does it add 59 kW/80 horsepower compared to the 718 Spider without RS, but it also cuts 0-100 km by 0.5 seconds. Top speed increased from 300km/h to 308km/h
• Even when changing gears manually, the paddle shift allows you to change gears while continuing to operate the steering wheel.
• The center console also has an ergonomically designed gear selector bar.

• It weighs 1,410 kg, which is 40 kg lighter than the PDK-equipped 718 Spyder and 5 kg lighter than the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
• Anyway, this 718 Spider RS will be the latest high point of the model line that started in 2016

balanced aerodynamics

• The front end is almost the same as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS
• The front bonnet is made of CFRP, and wide air outlets on the upper part of the bumper (standard equipment)

• Two NACA ducts increase brake cooling without negatively impacting Cd values
• Side blades outside the bumper increase downforce
• The front spoiler lip is slightly shorter than the 718 Cayman GT4 RS → the Cayman GT4RS has a larger rear wing and needs a larger spoiler lip to balance aerodynamics due to the increased overall downforce.

• Instead of wings, the 718 Spider RS has a tear-off edge shaped like a ducktail.
• All aerodynamic components are intricately tuned to maintain the car's aerodynamic balance and ensure maximum driving stability at high speeds

The roof is a soft top

• Rooftop is a single-layer (single-layer) lightweight soft top that opens and closes manually
• Its design is surprisingly compact and consists of two parts: a sun sail and a weather deflector.

• Both are removable and can be stored separately or together in the vehicle

• It is also possible to use the Sunsail alone as a "Bimini top", which protects the driver and passenger seats from strong sunlight.
• The sides and rear of the seat remain wide open when used as a bimini top
• Together with the weather deflector, you can raise the side windows to create a complete top that is protected from the rain.

• The entire roof including mechanical parts weighs only 18.3 kg
• This roof weight is 7.6 kg lighter than the 718 Spyder and 16.5 kg lighter than the 718 Boxster.
• If you want to lighten your car even further, you can leave the entire top of your car at home, weather permitting, and you can save another 8kg.

Sports suspension with maximum precision and agility

• The chassis is the same as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and 718 Spyder and is designed for maximum driving pleasure on winding roads.
• Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with Sport Tuning as standard
• 30mm lower ride height

• Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) with mechanical limited-slip differential, ball-joint suspension bearings and 20-inch forged aluminum wheels are also standard.
• Chassis behavior is characterized by razor-sharp steering precision and agile, very neutral handling.
• Ride height, camber, track & anti-roll bars (tread & stabilizer) are all individually adjustable
• Compared to the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, the spring and damper rates have been reduced for a more relaxed open car style set-up.

Performance-focused interior

• Interiors are limited to functional and ergonomic essentials
• 2 seater
• Grippy RS sport steering wheel in Race-Tex with yellow markings at 12 o'clock

• Lightweight CFRP full bucket seats with carbon weave are standard, providing exceptional lateral support
• The seats are black leather and the center of the seat is lacetex with contrast perforations. Choice of contrasting colors: Arctic Gray or Carmine Red

• 'Spyder RS' logo embroidered in selected contrast colors on headrests
• Leather finish on dashboard and trim
• Choose from 4 solid colors, 3 metallic colors including the new Panadium Gray Metallic, and special colors Arctic Gray, Shark Blue, and Ruby Staneo.

Optional Weissach package available

• Optional Weissach package available

• Extremely light forged magnesium wheels are available as an additional option in the Weissach package.
• In the case of Weissach, the sports exhaust tailpipes are made of titanium and its appearance is inspired by the 2018 limited-edition Porsche 935.

• The big difference inside the car is the upper part of the dashboard covered in anti-glare lacetex.
