Lamborghini Esperienza GIRO Japan 2025 in Hokkaido
Last time,He transported his Lamborghini Huracan EVO by ferry from his home in Tokyo to Tomakomai, Hokkaido. That's what I wrote.
There was only one reason why I brought the Huracan to Hokkaido: to participate in this year's Lamborghini GIRO Japan.
The "Esperienza GIRO Japan 2025" event that I participated in this time is a trip organized by Lamborghini Japan, where participants go on a tour in a Lamborghini within a designated area each time.
Last year's area was Okinawa, so we sent the Lambo to Okinawa, and this year's area was Hokkaido, so this year we sent the Lambo to Hokkaido...Just this alone makes this event an experience that is difficult to get on a solo trip.
The last time we went to Okinawa, we handed the car over to the sales representative from Lamborghini Shiba (Corns Motors), who we have been using, from our home, and the car was transported to Okinawa, and we simply flew to Okinawa later, but this time we took the trouble to transport the car by ferry to Hokkaido ourselves.
I will explain why I did that when I write about the return ferry.
*Our family just took the ferry trip on our own; basically, all the other participants sent their cars to Hokkaido via their respective dealers, just like in Okinawa last year, and then flew to the destination.
Car transport business operations
So, I arrived in Tomakomai by ferry from Oarai the day before the start of the GIRO, and first stayed overnight in Eniwa City, about 30 minutes by car from New Chitose Airport, where the GIRO would start the next day.
The morning after the ferry the day before, I woke up thinking, "It's so bright, so early in the morning," and when I woke up in Eniwa it was also getting bright outside, but it was still just before 4am.
This is the morning view from the hotel, and it was taken at just 3:50am.
When I checked later I found out that sunrise in this area at this time of year is 3:55am, and I began my trip to Hokkaido in surprise that dawn could come so early.

This year's GIRO was originally scheduled to start in the afternoon of June 18th, 2025, at a certain location at New Chitose Airport, but that was only assuming that the cars would be sent to Hokkaido in advance via the dealer, and that the riders would fly to Hokkaido on the day.
People like me who drove their cars to Hokkaido ourselves had to get them to the designated location at 10am, earlier than the meeting time for everyone.
I was nervous about whether I would be able to make it there safely, but I checked out of the hotel in the morning and headed to the airport.
I somehow managed to get my car to the designated location without any trouble and handed it over to the staff there, but at that moment I was completely exhausted.
I felt a sense of accomplishment, having accomplished a big task for me: "I managed to transport my bike safely from my home to the GIRO starting point in Hokkaido" (laughs).

At this time, the staff were also moving the customers' Lamborghini to the meeting place, so I felt the same as the other staff.
"Yes, I managed to deliver it safely. Mission accomplished for now."
I felt like, how was it, that once I had delivered the car to this place, my GIRO journey was successfully completed for now.
I completely felt like I was a contractor who had been commissioned to transport vehicles (laughs).
By the way, I will mention this separately, but it seems that there were two couples in total, my family and one other couple, who transported their cars from their homes to GIRO in Hokkaido this time.
I was happy to hear that there were other people who had brought their own cars.
Met up with my husband at New Chitose Airport
After safely delivering the car to the designated location and greeting everyone at Cornes, we were given directions to the GIRO meeting place and then headed to the gate where my husband was scheduled to arrive by plane.
Due to work, my husband was unable to move until the morning of the day of the trip, so I carried the car on the ferry by myself and my husband arrived at the location on the day.
The previous GIRO started with lunch, but this time there was no lunch and it started only with the drivers' meeting, so as soon as my husband arrived by plane, we went straight to Hokkaido for miso ramen.

In a sense, GIRO is a ``foodie trip''...or rather, it seems more like a ``training school for food fighters,'' and we knew from last year's experience that food would be served in rapid succession, so why did we end up eating ramen before the start?
I arrived at the 2025 GIRO meeting place with my stomach full.
Here, I saw the faces and said hello to some of the people I had been with last time, and it made me feel nostalgic, but I also had a grin on my face at the thought of the exciting journey about to begin. Just being here made me feel so excited.

GIRO Japan is a mystery tour
GIRO Japan is a mystery tour. Before joining GIRO, participants are given the following information:
- First meeting time and place
- The hotel to stay at (I don't think I even knew this at first last time)
- Final day departure time and location
- Participation fee
That's about it.
In other words, the only information participants are given at the beginning is the minimum information necessary to make reservations such as for flights at the meeting and departure times, so they have no idea what the journey will be like until they actually arrive at the meeting place on the first day.
But that's also one of the fun parts of this GIRO ^^
So, at the first meeting place on the first day, I received the guidebook and route map for the trip, and for the first time learned about the contents of the trip.

Chigusa will be the host again this year.

The drivers' meeting, which marked the start of GIRO Japan 2025, began with a greeting from Paolo Sartori, the new CEO of Lamborghini Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of Automobili Lamborghini SpA, who will take office in April 2025.

In addition, freelance announcer Inano Kazumi will once again be the MC for the GIRO Japan tour, navigating everyone via radio and sharing various little tidbits about the areas they are riding in, in a radio-like manner.

During the GIRO, the riders will be divided into four groups, A to D, and each group will have a lead car driven by a professional driver.
The professional drivers who will be driving the lead cars are:
- Group A: Yoshio Ikemachi (4th GIRO)
- Group B: Wasaburo Baba (5th GIRO)
- Group C: Kyoji Ishikawa (GIRO 2nd time)
- Group D: Katsuya Makita (First time participating in GIRO)

The lead cars this time, driven by professional drivers, were Audis.

The participants, who are assigned to each group, follow behind the lead car and run in a neat single file without overtaking anyone within the group.
Another staff member will accompany us at the end of the group in his car, so if something happens along the way, we can rest assured that someone will be watching from behind.
After the drivers' meeting, where we confirm the details of the trip and any important driving precautions, we move straight to our cars and the tour begins.
Before departure, water and Lamborghini flags were distributed.

In the morning, the area where I brought my car in as one of the vehicle transporters was decorated with GIRO Japan symbols.
Even though I came to the same place as in the morning, this time it was an exciting start as a participant (lol).

Stickers with each vehicle number for this year's GIRO Japan were also affixed to the cars, so they were ready to go.

The sight of all the participating vehicles for GIRO Japan 2025 lined up was simply exciting.
cool.
I'm really excited about the journey that begins here, driving through Hokkaido with these cool Lamborghinis. I feel so excited.

Modified vehicles are not allowed to participate in GIRO Japan
Just to be sure, I would like to state this again: GIRO Japan is a Lamborghini manufacturer event, and modified vehicles of any kind are not allowed to participate.
Both cars are sold through authorized dealers, have no modifications, and have passed proper vehicle inspections.
Also, by having a lead car, each vehicle does not drive at high speeds, and the vehicle is well behaved.

What's amazing, though, is that most of the vehicles participating in this year's GIRO Japan were Revueltos.
I don't think a Revelto is the kind of car that you would normally come across that easily even in Tokyo, so it was quite surreal and amazing to see so many Reveltos in front of me.

The view is too luxurious for our family.
This time there were about 21 or 22 cars in attendance.

As the GIRO Japan signaled departure, each Lamborghini finally departed from New Chitose Airport.

Each vehicle is provided with an IP radio like this, and messages from the driver of the lead vehicle and the navigator come in through this radio.

This year's GIRO was blessed with great weather throughout, and we were able to ride in clear, sunny conditions.
Of course, it was hot under the sun, but it wasn't as humid as Tokyo, so it was comfortable.

Sankai Falls
Arrived at the first point.
The route map we were given at the beginning had detailed diagrams, so we were supposed to check them as we drove towards our next destination, but basically we followed the lead car in a group, so in reality we were able to reach our destination just by following the car in front of us.

When a few cars got stuck at traffic lights and the formation was disrupted, the cars in front would wait further ahead (in a safe place) for the cars behind them to pick up, so we were able to continue moving in formation almost the entire time.

The first point we arrived at was Sankai Falls.

After parking the car in the parking lot and walking a little, a beautiful three-tiered waterfall came into view along with the pleasant sound of flowing water. It was refreshing.

This place is said to generate a lot of negative ions; for example, the number of negative ions in Sapporo's office district is less than 100/cc, but the number of negative ions at Sankai Falls is an astounding 50,000/cc (as measured in 2006).
First of all, I took a deep breath.

Iced coffee was also distributed at the site, so I took a break sipping the cold coffee and breathing in plenty of negative ions.
I'm so happy.

At each spot we visited, there were groups of super cool Lamborghinis parked together, and no matter how many times I saw it, it was such an amazing sight that I couldn't help but stare at it.

Revuelto, when I saw all of this laid out in the open, I thought it was amazing.

After a quick wash, we head off to our next destination.

GIRO Japan was accompanied by a large camera crew, who took pictures from the front and back of the vehicle while we were riding, as well as waiting on the roads along the way, and in some places even using drones to film.

The ride continues, with views of cows that make you feel like you're in Hokkaido.

Roadside Station Makkari Flower Center
Leaving Sankai Falls behind, we all gathered together again and headed to our next destination.
The next stop was the Makkari Flower Center, but just before arriving there, the touring MC said over the radio,
"There is a famous Enka singer from Makkari who is on his way. Who is she?"
I was asked the following quiz.
Perhaps because the land in Hokkaido is so vast, there were many times when the IP radio connection was interrupted. In the midst of all this, just when I was thinking "Who could that be?" in response to this quiz, the radio connection was cut off.
Hey hey, who is it?
I panicked, thinking that I wouldn't get the correct answer, but the next time the radio came back on, I heard the explanation, "...so it seems there's also a statue of Takashi Hosokawa," and I realized with relief that the correct answer was Takashi Hosokawa (laughs).

I'm looking forward to the MC's talk because he shares a lot of interesting facts, but this time the radio was cut off a lot,
"So, what happened next?" "What happened in the end?!"
This often happened, and when an interesting conversation started, I was hoping that it would not end.

One of the memorable things about this GIRO Japan Hokkaido trip was being able to see the beautiful Mt. Yotei throughout the trip.

When we arrived at Makkari Flower Center, many students were waiting for us.
I thought it was strange so I asked, "Is there a school nearby?"

"It's over there!" he said, pointing to a building just opposite the entrance through which we had entered the roadside station.
The white building in the background

There was a school right nearby, so many students who appeared to be on their way home from school had come to look at it.
As I was telling him how wonderful Makkari was, he said to me, "Are you from Tokyo? Those cars are so cool! Have fun (in Hokkaido)!" which made me really happy.
The students were very polite.

Everyone seemed to enjoy looking at the Lambos and taking photos, and when they departed they waved goodbye until the very end.
Thank you ^^

Leaving the Makkari Flower Center Roadside Station behind, we head towards Mount Yotei.

Next we arrived at the refueling point.
To avoid overcrowding when refueling, each group will be directed to a different gas station to fill up.
Participants are also given the opportunity to refuel with gasoline, without having to make any separate payments, so they can remain in the car the whole time and depart immediately after refueling.

By the way, the fuel filler on the Huracan EVO is on the right side, but the fuel filler on the Revuelto was on the left side.
Well, this is getting long as usual (sorry...) so I'll continue next time ^^
