It is held in MontereyMonterey Car Week 2024To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of German tuning house bb-Auto, Galpin Auto Sports unveiled a restomod of a certain Porsche.
Inspired by vintage Polaroids, this car is a 1986 Porsche 911 Targa with an immediately striking rainbow color scheme.
It also features the latest chassis and hybrid powertrain, and the interior has been completely refreshed.
When you say "inspired by vintage Polaroids," I think you mean incorporating the rainbow pattern from Polaroid cameras (which were memorable for their rainbow patterns).
In 1976, bb-Auto collaborated with Polaroid to create the Rainbow Turbo Targa, and this Targa is a tribute to that car.
The restomodded car is based on a 1986 Porsche 911 Targa and has a black body with rainbow paint.
It's quite eye-catching and flashy.
The biggest change is the new 4.0-liter flat-six engine by Ed Pink Racing mated to a Vonnen hybrid system.
The total output is 410kW/558PS, with the electric motor located between the engine and transmission producing a maximum of 110kW/150PS.
To handle the extra power, the Targa is fitted with updated suspension and brakes, including 997 GT3-inspired coilovers and an active suspension management system.
Plus, the 18-inch wheels get bigger Brembo brakes.
Even the meter is rainbow ^^
The interior has also been beautifully redone, with custom Recaro LX seats upholstered in blue to match the dashboard, and a 9.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) system on the passenger side.
I mean, it's pretty flashy after all... (laughs).
Plus, of course, there's air conditioning and a 660-watt Focal audio system.
Galpin Motors, the exclusive owner of bb-Auto, will produce a limited number of 50th Anniversary bb Targa Hybrids, each of which will be customized to the owner's specifications. Pricing has not been disclosed.
By the way, while I was looking at the Rainbow Targa, I found a Porsche called "bb Porsche Targa Moonracer" that was customized by bb. This one is monotone, but I personally like this stripe better.
