The award, which has been presented since 2006 by the consulting firm Agamus Consult in collaboration with the specialist magazine Automobil Produktion, recognizes manufacturing sites that have made outstanding contributions to lean manufacturing, modern manufacturing, and digital integrated manufacturing.
The initiative, whose motto is "learn from the best," aims to reveal how the European automotive industry is harnessing the potential of lean manufacturing and digitalization to drive innovation and efficiency in production.

Porsche Leipzig: Focus on quality and cost-effectiveness
Albrecht Reimold, Member of the Board of Management for Production and Logistics at Porsche AG, said:
"A lean, flexible and digitally supported production system is essential for Porsche's innovative power and competitiveness."
"Since its inception, the Porsche plant in Leipzig has embodied innovation and adaptability. Today, three powertrain concepts – gasoline, hybrid and electric – are produced on a single production line in a mixed model flow. We are delighted that Porsche's ability to manage this high level of complexity has been recognised with this award."
Porsche's production is based on lean manufacturing practices to increase efficiency, quality and flexibility.

In addition to utilizing cutting-edge technology, actively involving employees in building continuous improvement processes and adopting a comprehensive approach to saving resources are key elements.
The award ceremony will be held at the 19th Automotive Lean Manufacturing Conference in Volkswagen Poznan, Poland on November 25th and 26th, 2025.

The Porsche Leipzig plant began operations in 2002 as Porsche's second production site after the Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen headquarters.
Currently, the Macan and Panamera are produced here. Until 2017, the Cayenne was also produced in Leipzig, and from 2003 to 2006 the Carrera GT was also produced there.
The Leipzig plant has also won numerous awards for its smart production and sustainable approach, including the Lean & Green Management Award in 2021 and Factory of the Year in 2023.
