The 60th anniversary 911 Targa has only been available as a 4WD model since 2006
On July 2, 2025, the new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet, and 911 Targa 4S, all of which will be the 992.2 model, were announced.

The 911 Targa celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. The Targa was already released as a GTS model in the 992.2 series, but the Targa 4S has now been released as the second Targa body model, adding to the Targa 4GTS.
The 4S model Targas announced are available in shade green metallic color.

Let's take a look at what was announced:
- With this announcement, the new Porsche 911 (992.2) will have a total of six four-wheel drive models.
- The latest 911 Carrera 4S models will be available in Coupe and Cabriolet, as well as the Targa 4S
- Thanks to significantly improved powertrains, the 4WD models offer a more emotional ride than their predecessors.
- The overall package has also been enhanced with the addition of customization options and expanded standard equipment.

- About half of 911 S customers choose all-wheel drive because it provides maximum traction in bad weather.
- All-wheel drive makes the 911 even safer, especially in regions with changeable climates and difficult road conditions.
- Like all four-wheel drive 911s, the S models are designed for rear-wheel-driven driving dynamics.
- If necessary, the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system provides drive torque to the front axle to improve traction and driving stability.
- As with the previous model, the clutch assembly in the front differential is water-cooled and electromechanically controlled (only the gear ratio has been slightly adjusted).
- The 911 Targa is available only with 4WD
Improved driving performance
- New 911 all-wheel drive models use the upgraded drive system from the Carrera S
- The 3.0-liter flat-six twin-turbo engine produces 353kW (480PS), 22kW (30PS) more than the previous model.
- This performance improvement is due to the optimization of the intercooler system, the design of which has been inherited from the 911 Turbo.
- An eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) sends power to all four wheels
- The 911 Carrera 4S Coupe has a 0-100km/h time of 3.3 seconds (with the Sport Chrono Package) and a top speed of 308km/h.

911 Targa 60th Anniversary
- The original version of the Targa model was Porsche's response to debate and concerns about the safety of traditional convertibles in the US market.
- The Targa, which debuted at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main in September 1965, was called the "Safety Cabriolet."
- Like many Porsche innovations, the elegant, wide roll bar is inspired by motorsport.
- With a removable roof and folding rear window, safety-conscious drivers can feel as if they're driving a fully open car.
- The name Targa comes from the famous Sicilian endurance race, the Targa Florio.

- With over 60 years of constant evolution in terms of engineering and design, the Porsche 911 Targa has become an icon in its own right.
- The introduction of the 993-generation 911 Targa in 1993 eliminated the need to manually remove the roof.
- Since 2006, the 911 Targa has only been available with four-wheel drive.
- Since 2014, a fully automatic roof mechanism has been adopted, allowing the coupe-like sports car to gracefully transform into an open-top car in just 19 seconds.
- The glass rear window folds backwards and the roof segments fold elegantly.
- The wide roll bar and wraparound rear window are reminiscent of the original model.
- The current Targa roof module is available in four colors:
- black
- blue
- Red
- Brown

Fully equipped
- Standard equipment has also been significantly improved compared to the previous model.
- These include the latest design 20/21-inch staggered-fit Carrera S wheels, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+), and a sports exhaust system that produces the distinctive 911 sound.

- The braking system inherited from the GTS model comes as standard, with red calipers and 408mm discs at the front and 380mm discs at the rear.
- The 911 Targa 4S comes with rear-wheel steering as standard
- The Cabriolet and Targa are equipped with rear seats, but the Coupe comes standard with a two-seater (though a rear seat system can be installed at no extra cost).

- The 4WD interior is equipped with a leather package.
- Matrix LED headlights and wireless smartphone charging also come as standard.
- Other equipment includes:
- Power retractable exterior mirror (with mirror surround lighting)
- Light Design Package
- Auto-dimming interior and exterior mirrors with rain sensor
- Lane Departure Warning
- A wide range of options are available to customize the car, including different colours, material combinations, sound systems, assistance systems and roof systems.
