Porsche sales for Q1-Q3 2024 were 226,026 units

Porsche's worldwide new car sales for the third quarter (July-September) have been announced.

The number of units sold in the period from January to September 2024 was 226,026, down 71 TP1T compared to the same period last year. The reason for this is said to be "mainly due to limited product availability."

"Customer demand remains strong and customer feedback on our new models has been very positive," said Detlev von Platen, Porsche's board member for sales and marketing. "With increasing product availability, we are optimistic for the final push through 2024."

"Market conditions remain challenging around the world, but Porsche is in a strong position with the newest model range in its history and a very balanced sales structure in each sales region. Our value-driven sales strategy has proven its effectiveness and will continue to form the basis of our activities in the future," he added.

Looking at the actual breakdown in figures, 52,465 vehicles were delivered in Europe (excluding Germany) through the third quarter, an increase of 1% compared to the same period last year.

In Germany alone, sales were 26,838 units, up 81 TP1T from the same period last year.

However, sales in the Chinese market remain sluggish, with sales up to the third quarter standing at 43,280 units, down 291 TP1T from the same period last year.

North America was also sluggish, with 61,471 units delivered, down 51 TP1T compared to the same period last year. In overseas and emerging markets, 41,972 units were delivered, up 31 TP1T compared to the same period last year.

Taycan is down 501 TP1T compared to the same period last year

Next, let's look at the sales numbers for each model from Q1 to Q3 (January to September 2024).

First of all, the reason for the Taycan's dramatic drop in numbers is said to be due to model changes (is that true??), and the same is true for the Panamera, whose numbers are also declining due to market conditions in China.

The Macan is mainly due to a model change in many markets. "The new all-electric SUV model has now begun to be delivered to the first customers. We are confident that the Macan will impress people with its innovation and performance," said Platen.

The Cayenne is doing well, with sales up 211 TP1T compared to the same period last year. It is the first new model launched as part of a comprehensive product offensive, and is expected to have a correspondingly positive impact about a year after its market launch.

The 911 is still popular, with sales up 21 TP1T compared to the same period last year. This means that once deliveries of the 992.2 start, the recovery will continue, so it's understandable that Porsche is a little optimistic for Q4 (I wonder if they'll be able to make a lot of deliveries in Q4).

The 718 Boxster and Cayman are up 101 TP1T compared to the same period last year. At this point, the 718 is said to be the last ICE model, so perhaps demand has increased. Perhaps the slots that were filled early in Europe, due to increased demand, were successfully allocated to other markets.

Although 2024 will be a tough year for Porsche with limited product availability in some cases, the company is said to be intentionally focusing on strengthening the quality focus of new model series to ensure that it can continue to offer customers an unmistakable brand and product experience.
