JDPower's Initial Quality Study (IQS)
In the 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS) conducted by American research company J.D. Power and released on June 27, 2024, Porsche, which was ranked second in the 2023 survey, has been ranked first this time.
Ram, which tops the chart, is ranked first in the "mass market brand category" (2nd place Chevrolet, 3rd place Hyundai), and first in the "premium brand category" (2nd place Lexus, 3rd place Genesis).
This is J.D. Power's 38th survey, which surveyed approximately 100,000 U.S. new car owners of more than 30 brands and more than 200 models.
The results were based on 90 days of actual use of the car after it was delivered, and then participants were asked questions about 227 different quality issues across 10 categories (infotainment, functions, controls, displays, exterior, driver assistance, interior, powertrain, seats, driving experience, climate/environmental factors, repairs needed, etc.).
The results are based on data collected between July 2023 and May 2024.
In addition, in the top three in each category, the Porsche 911 came in second in the "Premium Sports Car" category.
The Macan came in third in the "Compact Premium SUV" category, and the Cayenne came in second in the "Upper Midsize Premium SUV" category.
The "Plant Assembly Line Quality Award" was also announced, with the Osnabruck plant, which produces Porsche's 718 line, and the Leipzig plant, which produces the Macan, winning second and third place in the European region.
And as a Japanese person, I'm very proud of the results, and I'm happy that the top prize for the Premium Award went to Toyota's Takaoka Plant in Japan, and that the second and third places in the other Asian regions were also Japanese plants.
