July 4th was Independence Day of the United States.

To celebrate Independence Day, Porsche in North America introduced the top 5 Porsche models that can be said to be the "American icon" that Porsche has released so far.

However, in fact, this video was released one year ago on Independence Day in 2019. But I haven't seen it yet, so I watched the video reposted by Porsche North America on this year's Independence Day ^ ^

The top 5 Porsche American icons are introduced in the video, and US works driver Patrick Long actually brought the top 5 Porsche and explained it.

5th place: Porsche 356 Speedster

The 1950s around 1954 ... the era when James Dean and the 356 Speedster were legendary.

Porsche's open-top sports car was developed specifically for the American market and is lightweight and reasonably priced.

It was the best Porsche to run on the west coast of the United States in good weather.

The 356 Speedster is still one of the most popular models, with modest equipment and the original price wasn't that high, but it's now a big deal at auction.

4th place: Porsche 911 America Roadster

Fourth place is the 911 American Roadster, the successor to the Speedster.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 356 Speedster, a special edition of the 964 family was released to celebrate the 40th anniversary.

The model was equipped with everything necessary to be called a dream car, and the air-cooled 3.6-liter boxer engine outputs 250 horsepower.

However, since it was also a minimalist model, there was no rear spoiler or rear seat bench.

3rd place: Porsche 911 RS America)

The third place is 911 RS America.

In the mid 90's, a Porsche enthusiast in the United States needed a car for a Sunday truck event and requested that Porsche need a car. (You could do that ... ^^)

The answer from Porsche was the Carrera RS, a 964 version of the Motorsport Edition, which was limited to 701 units.

Second place: Porsche 917/10 (Porsche 917/10)

The second place is Porsche 917/10.

This Porsche was developed to comply with the rules of the North American Can Am race series.

In the 1972 season, Gearge Follmer won the Can Am Championship with the Porsche 917/10 on the Penske team.

1st place: Porsche 934.5 (Porsche 934.5)

The prestigious first place was ... Porsche 934.5.

By the way, the way to read this model was called "Porsche Nine Thirty for and a Half", so I wonder if that is the correct answer.

Only 10 of these models were produced for the United States.

By the way, in the video here, Patrick suddenly became a racing suit.

Anyway, this 934.5 has a nice running appearance, so I think it's better to watch the video ^ ^
