911 GT3 90 FA Porsche: A collector's car that pays tribute to a visionary designer

Porsche AG will present the 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche as a special gift to Ferdinand Alexander (FA) Porsche, who will celebrate his 90th birthday on December 11, 2025.

As we will explain later, FA Porsche has already passed away, so this special Porsche was created to commemorate his 90th birthday this year, which would have been his birthday if he were still alive.

First, let's take a quick look at what kind of person "Mr. FA Porsche" was and his career path.

Who is FA Porsche?: FA Porsche's design beliefs and history

To put it simply, FA Porsche is the man who designed the Porsche 911 and is the founder of Porsche Design.

He is an essential designer in the history of Porsche.

• Ferdinand Alexander Porsche (FA Porsche) was born on December 11, 1935
• The environment in which he grew up was characterized by technology and a pioneering spirit
• FA spent most of his childhood at the Schüttgut House in Zell am See
• Passionate about design from an early age, he studied briefly at the renowned Ulm Design School, and then began working as an intern in the modelling department at Porsche in 1957.
• In March 1961, this department was separated from the body design department and placed under the management of "Studio" FA Porsche.
• Under this young FA Porsche, the first 911, the 901 model, the 904 Carrera GTS, and the 804 F1 car were born.
• After Porsche KG was converted into a limited liability company and all family members withdrew from management, in 1972 he founded an independent company in Stuttgart together with his brother Hans-Peter Porsche and named it Porsche Design.

• Two years later, the design studio moved its headquarters to the Schüttgut House in Zell am See.

What is the 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche?

Next, let's take a look at the contents and specifications of the special model "911 GT3 90 FA Porsche" that was announced this time and will also be sold as a limited edition car:

• To celebrate FA Porsche's 90th birthday, Sonderbunsch experts worked with FA Porsche's youngest son, Mark Porsche, to design a special commemorative model: the 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche.
• The exterior and interior are inspired by the G-series 911 that visionary designer FA Porsche drove in the 1980s.

• The 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche also incorporates elements of elegant heritage design and 90 units will be produced under Porsche's Sonderbunsch program.
• One of them will be owned by Marc Porsche, son of FA Porsche, and the remaining 89 will be offered to customers around the world.

• Marc Porsche commented: "My father would have loved this special 911. Many of his preferences were incorporated into this exciting project. The FA Green Metallic paint, created especially for this model, is reminiscent of the Oak Green Metallic of his 911. The FA Grid woven fabric used in the seat centres echoes the pattern of my father's favourite jacket."

• The base for this collector's item is a 911 GT3 Touring Package equipped with a deployable rear spoiler.
• The naturally aspirated 4.0-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine produces a maximum output of 375 kW (510 PS) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm.

• Buyers of this model will also have the unique opportunity to further personalize their anniversary car.
• The car comes with a special limited edition of the legendary Porsche Design Chronograph 1 and a special weekender bag.

911 GT3 90 FA Porsche order period and domestic price

• The 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche will be available for order from April 2026, with a price of 50.71 million yen (tax included) / as of December 11, 2025
• After final individual configuration by Sonderbunsch, the buyer will receive the car with production scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026.

FA Green Metallic: Paint to Sample Plus

• The name of the exclusive paint finish for this model is "FA Green Metallic."

• Inspired by the iconic Oak Green Metallic of FA Porsche's beloved 911, the colour was created by PTS experts in collaboration with the Porsche family.

• From 2026 onwards, all affected vehicles will have special labels reading "Paint to Sample" and "Paint to Sample Plus" affixed to the A-pillars.
• This model will be the first to carry this new label.

• Another special exterior feature is the Sport Classic wheels in satin gloss black, which are not available on the 911 GT3 with the Touring Package.
• Inspired by classic Fuchs rims, the car showcases attention to detail, including a center lock and the historic 1963 crest on the wheel hub cover.

• Galvanized gold badge with "90 FA Porsche" logo on trunk lid grille

• The chalk beige decorative stitching complements the truffle brown club leather interior, while the special FA grid woven fabric seat center panels create a special nostalgic atmosphere for FA Porsches.

• This FA grid weave is also used in the glove box, board briefcase, and reversible luggage compartment mats.

• The fabric pattern is woven with five colors: black, green, truffle brown, cream, and burgundy red.
• The sports chronograph watch placed at the top of the instrument panel is based on the original Chronograph 1, a one-of-a-kind watch made for FA Porsche.

• Another highlight of the interior is the shift knob, which is fitted with a plate bearing the FA Porsche signature.
• This is made from open-pore walnut plywood
• The decorative dashboard trim includes a replica of the signature, a silhouette of the original 911 and another gold-plated plaque bearing the words "One of 90."

• The storage compartment in the center console is embossed with the same design as the badge on the luggage compartment lid.

Porsche Design Chronograph 1 Limited Edition

• Purchasers of this special edition car will receive a special edition Chronograph 1 as a gift.
• The hands and indexes are coated with a special luminescent paint called Super-LumiNova, which creates a patinated effect based on the appearance of radium and tritium as they age.
• The bracelet buckle and crown feature the historic Porsche Design logo, highlighting the watch's exceptional vintage look.

• Initials placed above the day and date display at 3 o'clock
• Normally, the Porsche Design logo would be placed here, but FA Porsche engraved his own initials on his chronographs, which are passed down to his descendants.

• The rotor of an automatic movement is the same shape and color as a car wheel.
• The case back is laser engraved with the limited edition number (XX/90) and the FA Porsche signature.
• Unlike the original, the case is made of durable, hypoallergenic, and ultra-lightweight titanium (although it is black-coated, just like the historic models since 1972).

• The included leather strap can be used instead of the black-coated titanium bracelet.
• The leather and thread of the decorative stitching correspond to the materials used in Porsche interiors
• Quick change system allows you to easily change straps without tools
• Like all Porsche Design timepieces, this chronograph is COSC certified, ensuring the highest possible accuracy.
• This watch is handcrafted at the Porsche watchmaking factory in Grenchen, Switzerland.

• This special watch is based on the "Chronograph 1 - 1972 Limited Edition" that Porsche Design released in 2022 to commemorate its 50th anniversary.
• It is faithful to the original down to the smallest detail, yet utilizes cutting-edge technology.
• The history of this watch began when the then-young Porsche Design received its first order from Porsche AG.
  • The watches were given as gifts to employees or to celebrate anniversaries, and the initial order consisted of 20 watches.
  • The design was inspired by the Porsche 911 dashboard, which is clearly visible even in complete darkness.
  • FA brings this look and function to the watch, with a matte black dial, fluorescent white hands and indices, and a vibrant red stop-seconds hand.
  • The world's first black wristwatch, the Chronograph 1 quickly gained fame as a symbol of FA Porsche's functional design philosophy.

A weekender bag in the same style as the car

• This exclusive package includes the Porsche Design Chronograph 1 – 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche, as well as a special travel bag.

• The new version of the sled is made from carbon fiber, a material well-known in racing and automotive engineering, making it extremely lightweight.
• Kevlar core for added stability
• Like the car, the Porsche Junior will be limited to 90 units and will have a special exterior color, FA Green Metallic.
• The sled's seat cushions are made from the FA grid woven fabric used in the 911 GT3 90 FA Porsche.

With only 90 units available worldwide (only 89 units remaining for actual sale), it's likely to be a fierce battle for those who want one.
