The total value of the cargo was said to be $1.5 million (approximately 200 million yen).
It appears that an entire trailer from a Porsche race shop in Florida has been stolen.
The trailer was said to have been carrying four racing cars, parts and other equipment, and the trailer and the cars inside are still missing.
The theft apparently occurred around 3 a.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024. According to the owner, surveillance cameras showed two people driving into the parking lot in a car, and about 20 minutes later the tractor-trailer carrying the Porsches was taken away.
The specific model of the Porsche that was on the trailer has not been revealed, but based on the images released in the news, it is believed that one of the cars is a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport (in race spec).
Considering that the plane was carrying spare parts, the total damage is estimated to be around $1.5 million (approximately 200 million yen).
The tractor section was found several miles away, but the trailer and its contents remain unknown.
Apparently the trailer was equipped with a GPS, but it is unclear whether it was able to be tracked.A search was also conducted by plane, but there do not appear to be any clues at present.
It is unlikely that there is anyone in Japan who has any useful information, but it has been announced that a large cash reward will be paid to anyone who can provide information that leads to the recovery of the trailer and its contents.
Still, stealing such a huge trailer is on a grand scale, and it's like something straight out of a movie.
I hope it is returned safely to its owner.
