★ Additional notes ★ Where are the batteries of Porsche 911 Carrera and GT3?

When jumping start Porsche 911

(* I added two at the end of the text)

I wrote that the Nissan Fairlady Z's battery had run out a while ago, so I started jumping with the mobile battery.

At that time, in Porsche 911, the cord length of this mobile battery (jump starter) is not enough for the distance to + and-, so before purchasing a mobile battery for Porsche 911, that is also around I thought I had to think about it.

But again, after that, when I saw that "No, you should connect it to some parts even if it is not + and-, and you should connect it to the + and-of the battery in the first place." That's right. "

I'm curious, so I'll take a look.

Porsche 911 Carrera (late 991) battery

Hi, this is Mr. Black Carrera. It is Porsche 911 Carrera (991.2) ↓

It's my first time to open this place myself. The upper part of the front trunk. Click here to open ...

Open the other side with a click ...

Oh. Open! !! !!

It was like this ~.

I've never opened even such an easy thing. It's full of 911s that I really don't know at all.

Here is the battery. It was in such a place.

The silver circle here is a plus ↓

And there is a-right next to it, but there is a note saying "Don't connect here with the plus and minus of the battery" ↓

The plus and minus that connect the jump cable, which is properly recommended in the manual, is originally the yellow circled part. The right is positive and the left is negative ↓

The correct (connecting the jump cable) minus position is like this ↓

But ... surely, if you look at this correct position, you can see it. I tried attaching a mobile jump starter to the plus of the battery, but it does not reach the minus position at all.

Like this. That's impossible. The code is too short ↓

But.

Yeah, that's right. The length of this cord can be used to connect the plus and minus of the battery.

It feels like it's done here ↓

Originally it was not good from Abunai, but if there was only a mobile jump starter in an emergency, I thought that it would be an ant to jump start here.

Is it Abunai? how did it become I wonder.

The other thing I was interested in was the yellow parts on the back with the hood removed.

This. What parts is this? ↓

For the time being, I'm not sure, so I'll put the hood back. Align it, click it, and press it again to restore it. Simple!

↑ It's easy! While writing, this was actually the first photo I took when I tried to put the hood back in the wrong direction (laughs).

Porsche 911 GT3 (late 991) battery

and! If you come this far, you will probably check GT3 (991.2) as it will be a big deal!

This is also a snap ...

If you snap up the other side, it's high and open!

Mr. Battery is here.

This is this.

Yeah? picture? The GT3 battery looks smaller than the Carrera battery! !! !! Why? Is it because of your mind?

Comparing both model numbers, Carrera is "12V 70Ah 760A EN" and GT3 is "12V 70Ah 760A EN 430A DIN".

If you think this is different, isn't it the same?

EN is an abbreviation for European Norm and is a unified European standard. And DIN stands for Deutsches Institut für Normung, a German industrial standard set by the German Standards Association.

In other words, GT3 has a value of 430A, but after all, both are 12V 70Ah 760A EN, right?

Even so, the fact that GT3 looks smaller means that it is made smaller even though it is the same = lighter weight? ?? ?? different? Is it actually the same size due to the optical illusion?

By the way, Porsche is more than usual for Porsche 911 GT3, GT3RS, and Boxster SpiderThere was also a lithium-ion battery that was 10 kilograms lighter.Isn't it? I didn't know at all.

It was also sold by Sun Coast Parts..

By the way, and here is the minus point in GT3 ↓

Here is ↓

This is this. It says minus for jump cable.

Looking at the whole, it looks like this. Hmmm, after all ...

The plus and minus connections described in the manual cannot be reached with the mobile jump starter cable! !!

So, isn't it the only way to connect the plus and minus of the battery in an emergency? Is it useless?

I've heard that if you charge the battery quickly, it's dangerous if hydrogen gas is emitted and sparks fly. For that reason?

and! !!

Even when I removed the hood of this GT3, this yellow part was attached to the back side.

Are you really a Nanimono? When and how are the parts used?

Yellow parts on the back of the battery hood of Porsche 911 Carrera

… And of course.

I couldn't leave what I was interested in, so I looked it up. This yellow part. Fufufu.

I will open the front again.

When I opened the hood where the battery inside was stored ... Hello, Mr. Yellow Parts.

This is this. What the hell are you? I was thinking ...

I found out when I looked it up. Try removing the locked right part.

And when I turn it 90 degrees ... oh!

That's right, this was a "hooking" tool that allows you to remove the hood and hook it on the front lid as it is, so you don't have to worry about where to put the hood → you can leave it open (laughs).

What (laughs).

No, I'm scared to know nothing. Not knowing that this tool is available, I took the trouble to remove the hood and put it outside the car, and even wondered "What is this yellow part?" ^^!

As you can see, the hood can be fixed here, so if you have to mess with the battery or something in the future, please use this yellow tool ... Did you know that? ^ ^

After all, it's not recommended in the manual in the end, but in the worst case, I thought that if you connect the plus and minus in the battery, even a mobile jump starter with a short code will work!

It's a lot of fun ~ ^^

*In the Porsche manual, it is written that when you jump start, you connect to the original plus and minus that are properly defined. If you have to connect the battery to the plus / minus or somewhere else, you are at your own risk.

★ Addition (2020.6.23) ★
I told you in the comments below, so I will post it ^ ^

"If it is a jump starter with a protection circuit, there is no problem if you connect it directly to the battery terminal, but please turn on the switch after clamping. (To prevent damage to electronic devices due to sparks during clamping)

In the case of 911, if the battery runs out to the extent that the door lock cannot be operated with the remote control, the front lid cannot be opened either. Open the door with a blank key and power will be supplied from the fuse box, so it is better to check once. I think that this work is more troublesome because the cable length is insufficient.

When the battery voltage is low and the lid does not respond well, it is often easier to operate with the keys than to pull the opener switch on the side sill. 』\

Actually, I was also watching the manual saying "The battery may run out until the trunk does not open" (nerd (laughs)?), So just in case, I also posted the manual page of the coping method at that time. I will leave it ↓

Thank you for your comment ^^! !!

★ Addition (2020.6.26) ★

Furthermore, I was told by a different person that you can jump start by connecting at the following locations.

By jump-starting here, even with a short mobile battery jump cable, you can connect the positive terminal on the battery and the negative one to the non-battery part instead of using the positive and negative terminals attached to the battery. It will be.

* Although it is a story of a person who is familiar with mechanical things such as proper Porsche, it is not official, so for your reference & at your own risk ^ ^

This is what I bought. ↓

In the case of Carrera (991.2), if you look at the image below, the blue circle is the "minus terminal" on the battery, and the red circle is the "plus terminal" on the battery. And the green circle is the ground terminal part that says "Connect here".

In other words, start by connecting the plus of the jump cable to the red circle and the minus to the green.

I see. Certainly, in these red and green areas, even a short mobile jump cable can reach a distance and seems to be safe.

I was able to study a lot. Thank you ^^!
