WirtschaftsWoche, a major German business magazine, reported that, citing corporate and financial insiders (= treated as insiders), discussions are underway regarding a successor to current Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, with candidates from both inside and outside the company already being considered, and an appointment is expected as early as the fall.
It is unclear who these sources are, but the names of potential candidates for the next president have been mentioned quite specifically, so it seems that various discussions are already underway behind the scenes.
Oliver Blume currently serves as head of both Porsche and its parent company, the Volkswagen Group, and this dual role has been the subject of controversy among shareholders since Porsche went public in September 2022.
Investors have repeatedly called for Oliver to step down from either role due to governance concerns.
In response, Oliver said, "The dual role is not permanent," but when asked whether he plans to step down from either position at this point, he responded, "We'll see what happens this year."
VW, Porsche AG, and Porsche SE (an investment company of the Porsche and Piëch families that holds the majority of VW's voting rights) have all declined to comment on the matter.
