Fourth Guinness World Record for the Taycan
Porsche's Taycan GTS has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest drift on ice.
Instructor Jens Richter completed a total of 132 laps of ice drifting in a Taycan GTS, taking 46 minutes and covering a distance of 17,503 km.
No no no, that's amazing.
I've been practicing to be able to do steady circle drifts in a Porsche 911, and the other day I finally managed to do eight laps. I was so thrilled just to have done eight laps, and it probably took about a minute and a half to do all eight laps (laughs).
He was already struggling after just 8 laps, so it's clear how difficult it is to keep drifting for 46 minutes, even if it's on ice (and in a Taycan, which looks difficult at the same time!), and I can only have respect for him.
Not only the technology, but also the eyes are dizzy.
This marks the fourth time that the Taycan has achieved a Guinness World Record.

The ice drift challenge took place on the afternoon of January 14, 2025, but during the first try, the Taycan's continuous drifting caused the icy road surface to deteriorate faster than expected, and the attempt had to be abandoned after driving about 11 kilometers.
So for the second try, the team switched to shorter spikes and took advantage of the ice temperature dropping again as the sun went down, allowing them to achieve the record.
The previous world record for the longest continuous drift by an electric vehicle was 14.809 km, so this new record of 17.503 km is significantly longer than the previous record.
今回使われたタイカンは四輪駆動車だったわけですが、そのタイカンが極限の状況でも上手に制御できるという事実がその優れたシャーシとバランスが取れた性能を物語り、タイカンの横方向の走行性能を証明したと言われています。
By the way, this challenge took place on the ice course at the Porsche Arctic Centre in Levi, Finland, located about 150 km north of the Arctic Circle.
The drift circle diameter is 59 meters. It's big.
The tires used were commercially available Michelin tires with 1mm spikes.
There will even be fireworks when the record is reached (laughs).
It seems like it was a great performance, they set a record and it looks like they had fun, so that's great!
