Porsche patent for SUV
Porsche has SUV models such as Cayenne and Macan.
Normally, SUVs also exist as models that can be used hard such as towing something, but in the case of Porsche, even if it is an SUV, it is a compromise in its performance that can run fast as "Porsche". There is nothing to do.
It seems that Porsche has applied for a new patent in order to achieve both "it can be towed" and "the driving performance is amazing as Porsche".
The patents filed with the USPTO / United States Patent and Trademark Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA / Deutsches Patent- und Markenanmt) are "Active Diffuser Design".
Is it about an automatically deployable traction hitch to improve the efficiency of SUV aerodynamics?
This design seems to be fairly simple, with the rear diffuser divided into several parts, each of which is active up and down as needed.
The entire diffuser tilts downwards, opening the rear cavity and exposing the tow hitch hidden there.
In other words, when the car is stopped, the diffuser flap may open completely to give a tow hitch, or it may be possible to hide the hitch and increase the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicle depending on the direction of the diffuser.
It seems trivial, and efficiency in aerodynamics is a very important issue for SUVs that are becoming EVs (electric vehicles), so this part that makes a difference in driving performance I think it means that we will respond firmly.
I wonder if EV Macan will be applied first. How about ^^?
