Will the company expand its Chattanooga, Tennessee factory?
With Trump becoming the president of the United States, there is a possibility that even higher tariffs will be imposed on cars imported from Europe, and there have been reports that Porsche and Audi may consider producing their cars in the United States if this happens.
It is an automobile industry magazine.Automotive Newsis a German economic newspaper.Handelsblatt"Porsche and Audi import everything they sell in the U.S., putting them at risk from the new administration's tariff proposals," the report quoted him as saying.
However, even if we were to decide now to "build a production factory in the United States," it would take several years for the factory to be completed, and by the time that happens, the Trump administration would have changed (the US President is limited to a maximum of two terms (8 years)), so it is unlikely that they would make a huge investment in the time until then.

However, an "anonymous company source" (so who lol) said Porsche and Audi might turn to parent company Volkswagen to avoid the tariffs as quickly as possible.
What that means is reportedly an expansion of the factory in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where the Atlas and ID.4 are currently manufactured.
Apparently the factory has spare capacity and could be expanded to make more cars.
...However, it is still unclear whether tariffs on cars imported from Europe will really become higher, and even if the factory in Tennessee is expanded, it seems unlikely that it will be up and running so soon. Furthermore, even if Porsches are produced in Tennessee, if parts are imported from Germany or elsewhere, those parts may be subject to high tariffs...
I think that producing Porsches in the US (with the ultimate aim of avoiding tariffs) is not realistic after all.
I don't know what will happen, but I'd like to see new reports, such as one about "anonymous corporate sources" (lol).
