Made car sound optional, electric sports sound
Porsche's fully electric Macan was recently announced.. It seems that no announcement was made regarding the sound at the time of the world premiere.
When Porsche created its first fully electric car, the Taycan, there were optional artificial sounds that could be added, such as futuristic acceleration sounds and other pleasant sounds.
So, what about the EV Macan? Since it is a fully electric car like the Taycan, the new EV Macan also has sound available as an option.
You can hear the sound in the video that Porsche released to coincide with the world premiere.
This sound option is listed in the configurator as "Porsche Electric Sport Sound" and is a $490 option in the US for both the EV Macan 4 and EV Macan Turbo.
By the way, in the UK, this electric sports sound is said to be standard equipment on the EV Macan Turbo, so we do not know at the moment (as of January 26, 2024) what the specifications will be in Japan.

I like the sound of the Taycan. It's an indescribably futuristic sound that makes you feel good.
The sound of this new EV Macan...is similar to the Taycan, but a little lower? ? My first impression was that it looked a little scary.
But if I were to buy an EV Macan, I would probably add this option. I want to drive Porsche's EV car while listening to the futuristic sounds it makes ^^
What is Porsche Electric Sport Sound?
In the description on Porsche's configurator (US version), the Porsche Electric Sport Sound "strengthens the vehicle's own sound, creating an even more emotional sound both outside and inside the vehicle. This feature can be enabled or disabled via Porsche Communication Management (PCM).
At the time of the Taycan's launch, Porsche said of this sound option, ``Unpleasant noise from the drive structure is intentionally minimized and a harmonious, emotional sound that matches the car's movements is amplified.'' I did.
By the way, this optional sound can be enabled/disabled via PCM, but it is also possible to disable the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS), which makes a sound to warn pedestrians. It is said that it is not possible.
