Porsche takes 20th Daytona 24 Hours victory from the gym

Porsche Penske Motorsports wins the Daytona 24 Hours

The Daytona 24 Hours race was held on January 25-26, 2025, and Porsche Penske Motorsports won the race for the second consecutive year.

The Porsche 963 from #7 came in first place in the race.

This marks Porsche's 20th overall victory in the opening round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, which is impressive.

By the way, the first place went to the Porsche 963 with #7 in the GTP class, but the Porsche 963 with #6 also came in third place.

#6 was leading the race until halfway through, and Porsche took first and second place, so after a good fight, Porsche ended up taking first and third place.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to watch the Daytona 24 Hours race in real time, in which Porsche won.

After the race, I only saw on the news the fact that Porsche had won, but I was completely unable to see the exciting developments in the race leading up to the victory.

But, miracles do happen, don't they?

This happened when I went to the gym on January 31st, about five days after the actual race.

I happened to look at the TV in the gym and thought, "Hmm? Is this the Daytona 24 Hours?"

Upon checking again, I realized that what was being shown on the TV at the gym that day was indeed a live broadcast (recorded) of the recent Daytona 24 Hours race.

When I realized, "What? The Daytona 24 Hours are on air!!", I switched to the channel where the Daytona 24 Hours were being broadcast while on the treadmill (walking/running machine) in the gym, and it was the perfect timing, with "about 1 hour and 2 minutes left until the checkered flag was reached".

At this point, I thought I had no choice but to watch the Daytona 24 Hours while walking/running, so I began watching the Daytona 24 Hours while walking/running, while keeping an eye on the Porsche #6 in the lead and #7 in second place.

What is this, it's fun (lol).

The Full Course Yellow came on just as I was starting to watch the final hour of the race, so all the cars in all classes had to line up neatly by class, and since this was in the last hour of the race, the cars that had pitted during the Full Course Yellow had more than enough gasoline to run until the end.

It was like watching the best of both worlds, with the cars lining up by class and then the last hour or so of the final big battle, with the cars lined up by class and then the green flag after the full course yellow.

This is the Porsche 911 GT3 R in the GTD-Pro class, #77.Porsche's livery, nicknamed "Rexy," is a Tyrannosaurus rex dinosauris not it.

The last hour was truly thrilling to watch.

I was most interested in the Porsches in the GTP class, so I spent most of my time watching them, but the interactions between the cars in other classes were also incredible.

The broadcast that day was on J-Sports3, and since it had commentary in Japanese, it was very interesting to watch as it explained a lot of things I didn't know about, and information about what each car was doing, etc. in an easy-to-understand way.

Along the way, other classes were also competing in a fierce battle to overtake each other, and watching them run at incredible speeds, they were bumping into each other! Amazing.

When these collisions occur, parts fly off, like, "Oh, the right mirror on this Corvette is gone."

The Lexy Porsche also had a huge struggle along the way, and the front of the car, which had a picture of a dinosaur's teeth making a roaring sound, was blown off, and in the end it was no longer a dinosaur...

Porsche also saw its #7 overtake #6, which was initially in first place, and from then on #7 maintained first place.

Until halfway through the race, Porsche was in 1st and 2nd place, but unfortunately it was overtaken by Acura, which then took 2nd place.

However, it was an impressive feat with the #85 Porsche 963 taking first, third and sixth place.

As a Porsche fan, the result was great and the final hour of the race was a lot of fun to watch.

As a result of this race, Porsche now leads the championship standings in the top GTP class.

I was also grateful that the hour's workout flew by as I simply watched the exciting race.
