In April 2025, the third "Air|Water" event was held in Southern California (Costa Mesa), USA.
This was a major event hosted by Mobile1, with over 1,000 cars participating.
As the event name Air|Water suggests, it is a festival related to air-cooled and water-cooled cars, and the purpose of the event is to provide everyone interested in the world of Porsche with an opportunity to learn more about the car.
I was intrigued by a certain Porsche 911 that was on display at the event, so I'd like to write about that car this time.
Here it is. It is an art that turns a realistic car into a manga style.

This is a work by artist Joshua Vides, who has loved cars since he was a child growing up in California.
※From here on, I would like to insert photos of the process of how his works are completed.

He says the movie that changed his life and broadened his horizons was the Fast and the Furious. When he first saw it at the age of 12, he thought, "OMG, can you put lights under your car??"

I think that just the idea of "putting a light under the car" was a moment that suddenly broadened his horizons, as he had previously only thought of cars as something normal.

His current cartoonish art is truly mind-bending.
Even though I know it's a real car, it feels unrealistic, and when it starts moving it gets even more confusing.

He calls this technique "Reality to Idea (RTI)" and it's the culmination of a style he's developed over the years. "I take everything back to the original sketch," he says.

The finished product is actually a real car, so if you cut out and peel off the wrapping around the windows and lights, it can be driven in a normal way in everyday life.
Just looking at a car on display as a work of art is enough to make your head spin, but seeing this Porsche drive by would be mind-blowing.

This is the car actually moving, but it still looks really weird to watch ^^!
