Edith: Porsche's Volcano Ascent

Last October, a documentary about the Porsche 911 won Best Documentary at the 2024 International Motoring Film Awards.

That documentary is "Edith: Porsche's Volcano Ascent."

The 50-minute documentary chronicles the team's four-and-a-half-year attempt to reach the summit of Chile's Ojos del Salado, the world's highest volcano, in a specially built Porsche 911 called "Edith."

This documentary was unveiled at Monterey Car Week last year and later won the 2024 International Motoring Film Awards.Although it will be released on Amazon Prime from December 2024, it will only be available to watch in the United States and the United Kingdom.

It is scheduled to be released in other regions, including mainland Europe, in the future, but it is not yet known whether Japan will be included in those "other regions."

So, I haven't written about Edith on this blog since it's not available to watch in Japan, but it seems that the video will now be available to watch on Delta Airlines flights until spring 2025.

It is not yet available to watch in Japan, but if you are flying with Delta Airlines between now and spring, it seems that you will be able to see it on board Delta Airlines, so if you have the time, why not take a look at Edith here?

Unfortunately, I don't have any plans to fly Delta for the time being, so I'd like to see it someday when it becomes available in Japan!

If you really want to watch it, you can sign up for the overseas Amazon Prime account (it should be free for 30 days, just like in Japan), watch it, and then cancel your subscription right away (ΦωΦ)

I've had an overseas Amazon account for about 10 years now.
You will need to create an account separately from Japan, but you can use Amazon worldwide with one account.

  I assumed that if the country was different, it would be treated as "cannot be played in your country" and I would not be able to register in the first place.
  
  For now, I'll just wait for this documentary to be available on Amazon Prime in Japan someday (but maybe it won't be available until it's translated or dubbed in Japanese... so it might not be available at all...!)

    I've never tried it, but I was successfully directed to a site and registered with Amazon Prime once. I immediately unsubscribed. The main route on the site was to register with Amazon Prime (lol).
    
    I've been using Amazon overseas for quite some time now because you can purchase rare products that are only sold locally and cannot be purchased on Amazon Japan.

      It's definitely a good idea to buy from Amazon overseas.
      
      It would be great if we could watch movies and dramas that are only broadcast overseas, and even TV talk shows, on Amazon Prime in the US, but it seems like this would be difficult unless you could make your connection appear to go through an American server (which means you can't watch them in the normal (legal) way).

        Why don't you try it once? But you might need a VPN connection. Then you might be able to watch free videos.
        
        Incidentally, you cannot purchase digital content from overseas Amazon from Japan.
        The reason is that digital content only requires payment by credit card with a local address.
        Therefore, I don’t think you can watch paid videos even if you use a VPN.
        
        In the past, when I tried to buy MP3 files from Amazon overseas, it didn't work out for the reasons mentioned above.

        Even if you could, it would be better not to do it because it would not be the correct way to use it.
        
        I'll deal with this when the Porsche documentary comes to Japan or when I get the chance to fly Delta Airlines (?!)!
