CES 2020 @ Las Vegas
"CES 2020" (previously Consumer Electronics Show) is being held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA from January 7th to 10th, 2020.
Various new concepts have been announced by each company this time as well, and it has been in the news for the past few days. It's fun to see Sony's announcement of an electric car.
What surprised me most was the announcement of the demonstration city "Woven City" announced by Toyota, but anyway, this CES 2020 has various announcements like this.
Among such various announcements, there was one that was a little talked about, "Well, this new product!"
Charmin ROLLBOT
That is the "Rollbot" announced by a company that sells American toilet paper called "Charmin".
A small robot that runs around like a Segway? It is ↓
What they do is ... Yes, as you can see, they "carry toilet paper" ^^
Put the toilet paper on your head like this.
Charmin seriously conducted a survey of 2,015 adults over the age of 18 in March 2019 by market research firm Harris Poll.
As a result, it was found that the 58% of people aged 18 to 34 "had noticed that there was no toilet paper after sitting on the toilet."
In other words, this roll bot is the solution for people in emergencies who have noticed the astonishing fact of "Oh! No toilet paper!" After sitting in the toilet.
A video explaining the structure of the Charmin Rollbot was also released. If you take a look at the contents separately ...
A built-in antenna (Bluetooth) is built in, and it is possible to catch signals transmitted from smartphones etc., so if you send an emergency signal from the toilet with a smartphone, the roll bot will say "Did you call it?" I have come to notice.
In addition, it has a built-in infrared sensor, so you can drive around the house well.
And after all, what is the biggest feature?
"Friendly face". The face of this cute bear says, "We also provide emotional support for your emergency" (laughs).
Anyway, this roll bot.
I'd be happy if you could call me in an emergency and call me, and I think it would be very helpful, but if I'm at home, I still have to open the door to accept this roll bot in public, so when I think about it, This seems to be difficult to use unless it is an American "type of toilet with an open bottom of the door".
... I think seriously, too ^^
Furthermore, it is a replacement toilet paper that can be placed on this roll bot, but if the roll bot automatically refills it, it actually looks like a manual one if you look closely.
The image below ↓. If you look closely at the yellow circle, you can see that the toilet paper is installed by hand.
No, if you can remember to do that, why not just install a new toilet paper replacement in the toilet? ?? Instead of installing it on this roll bot!
… And, well, this roll bot is full of highlights.
The company wasn't really thinking about commercializing it, so it was a completely joking announcement. Oh, you don't have to say that (laughs).
There was also a notation "It will not be available for retail sale" in the content of the announcement ^ ^ ↓
* Some media say, "But it's CES, and I don't know if it's really a joke." Well, surely ~.
I really like watching such fun projects of companies.
Is it okay to have a gap in the serious announcement, "Yes, that?"
However, if you send an emergency signal on your smartphone when you are really in trouble and this bear calls you, you may be impressed at that time, "It's the best invention!" ( Lol).
